WHO WE ARE — AN ELCA CONGREGATION

Christ the King is part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), a
Christian tradition rooted in God’s grace and centered on Jesus’ love for the world.

Here are a few notes about what that means in practice:

  • Saved by grace through faith — not by our perfection or accomplishments

  • Scripture-centered — we take the Bible seriously while engaging it thoughtfully

  • All are welcome at the Lord’s Table — you do not need to be Lutheran, a member, or meet any specific conditions to receive Communion

  • Inclusive and welcoming — we affirm that every person is a beloved child of God

  • Committed to service — faith is lived out in love for neighbor and care for the world

  • Honest about doubt and questions — there is room here for wondering, questions, and growth

WORSHIP: WHAT TO EXPECT

Our Sunday worship is designed to be meaningful, participatory, and accessible for people at any stage of faith.

Style: A blend of traditional and contemporary

  • Classic liturgy alongside modern elements

  • Worship band and choir most Sundays

  • Inspiring music, prayer, Scripture, and a message that connects faith with everyday life

Atmosphere: Warm, reverent, and relaxed — not formal or intimidating

Dress: Come as you are. You’ll see everything from jeans and hoodies to business casual.

HOLY COMMUNION (THE LORD’S SUPPER)

We celebrate Communion every Sunday because this meal is at the heart of our faith.

  • We practice open communion — all are welcome

  • You do not need to be Lutheran, a member, or have it all figured out

  • We believe Christ is truly present in this meal

  • God is the host of the table — not us

  • Gluten-free bread is always available

  • Wine and grape juice are offered

  • If you prefer to receive a blessing instead of Communion, simply come forward with arms crossed over your chest.

CHILDREN & FAMILIES

Children are not just welcomed here — they are an essential part of our community.

During worship we offer:

  • Nursery care for infants and toddlers ages 0-5

  • Godly Play — a creative, story-centered faith experience for children grades preschool - 5

  • Children and infants are also always welcome to remain in worship

  • We offer faith formation opportunities for all ages throughout the year

We aim to support families in whatever way helps them participate fully.

AFTER WORSHIP: COFFEE & CONVERSATION

Following the service, we gather for a relaxed fellowship time with coffee, tea, and treats

  • A chance to meet people and ask questions

  • A welcoming, low-pressure environment

  • You are welcome to stay as long or as briefly as you wish.

STILL WONDERING IF YOU’LL FIT IN?

Many people who visit tell us they were nervous before coming — and relieved afterward. We are a community of people at many different stages of faith and life. You don’t need to believe exactly the same things as everyone else to belong here. If you are searching for meaning, community, healing, purpose, or simply a place to breathe — you are welcome.

We look forward to meeting you.
