LOCAL IMPACT  (serving our nearer neighbors in need)

"God does not ask you to go to far off places.
God sends you back to people and places you know.
God sends you in the power of the Holy Spirit.
GO where the kind word is needed.
GO where the risk of love will make a difference.
Put your feet in the street and GO!"

The power of the Holy Spirit ( that still small voice, that  tap on the shoulder, the tug on the heart) leads each of us to serve in our own wonderful way. God is calling you....and you can say.... "Here I am, Lord.  Do you need me? Lead me and I will go."

THANKSGIVING BASKETS
Baskets with food, personal items and gifts certificates are distributed to local families during the holidays. Funds come from  designated Christ the King member contributions and budgeted committee monies. Items needed for this year's baskets are stuffing mix, rice, instant potatoes, canned vegetables, cranberry sauce, fruit juice, olives, pickles, gravy packets or cans, tea, sparkling cider... anything for a Thanksgiving feast. A bin for our Thanksgiving collection is in the church entry.  We also are looking for people who speak Spanish or Russian to help in delivering the baskets, and/or individuals or families who would like to help in making deliveries.  Please have all contributions of food and money to the church by Sunday, November 23.  Julie Paulson and Meredith Stephens are leading this holiday ministry this year.  For further information speak with Julie or Meredith in person, or contact the church office @ 360-568-5704 or e-mail us at christtheking@ctksnohomish.org .

Making Christmas Brighter for Snohomish Families in Need
Each year, CtK works to make Christmas a special time for a number of Snohomish families in need.  A list of family members age, size, and Christmas gift suggestions is posted on the bulletin board in the church entry.  Peaople are encouraged to choose an individual or family, and provide gifts and/or money for gift certificates for groceries.   Julie Paulson and Meredith Stephens are leading this holiday ministry this year.  For further information speak with Julie or Meredith in person, or contact the church office @ 360-568-5704 or e-mail us at christtheking@ctksnohomish.org .

COMMUNITY KITCHEN
Once a month, the 2nd Thursday of the month, our Christ the King congregation provides a hot meal for those in need in our own community, including cooking, set-up,serving and clean-up. This ministry takes place at St. John's Episcopal Church on 2nd Street in downtown Snohomish.  Kids are always welcome to come help with this wonderful ministry, where your children experience being the hands and feet of Christ's love to others.  High schoolers are also always welcome.
Food prep begins at 10:00am and  serving begins at 4:30pm..

SNOHOMISH COMMUNITY FOOD BANK

Food donations from members and friends of Christ the King are supplied to the food bank.  It's easy to participate... just drop off food (canned or packaged) in the "Food Bank" box in the church entry and it will be delivered to the food bank.  The link on the picture above leads to more information about the Snohomish Food Bank.

 GIVING GARDEN
A new experiment this year, a plot of church land was dedicated to raising garden crops, with the harvest given to the Food Bank, Community Kitchen, and others who could use good, fresh garden produce.  Thanks to all who tend this growing garden!

HELPING HANDS
Helping Hands is a service provided by volunteers of the congregation in support of members who need a meal or a few meals. Just had a baby? Broke your leg? Going through chemotherapy? Had surgery? The volunteers cook and deliver meals and a smile. Contact Julie Jacobson through the church office @ 360-568-5704 if you have a need or wish to be apart of this great team.

CROP WALK
Church World Services sponsors this annual walk every fall.  Walkers obtain pledges and walk a course around Snohomish.  A portion of funds raised stays in the community for local food ministries and the remaining goes for international food ministies.  The 2008 CROP Walk, held on October 12, saw 28 CtK walkers.  The walk raised over $10,600.  The 2009 date is October 12.  So find a walking partner, put on your walking shoes, and plan now to take part next year.  It's fun, invigorating, a nice tour of Snohomish in the company of others, and most important, it's a way to help your neighbor in need.  The link on the logo above leads to more information about Church World Services.

PRISON MINISTRY
This is an ongoing ministry at the Monroe Correctional Complex. Volunteers work with the chaplain and visit with inmates. There are a variety of needs at the MCC. Contact George Nowadnick through the church office @ 360-568-5704 for information and to participate.  Christ the King Lutheran Church provides a Worship Service for inmates at the complex on every 5th Sunday in the months with 5 Sundays.

Do all the good you can, by all the means you can,
in all the ways you can, in all the places you can,
to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.
